Geauga Humane Society’s Rescue Village is dedicated to helping as many animals as they can here in Northeast Ohio, but on Friday their reach was able to spread a bit wider.

With the help of Pilots n' Paws, the Rescue Village was able to provide relief to Berkeley Animal Control, a South Carolina animal shelter, by accepting eight of its cats.

"We are thrilled that we were able to help play a small role in providing some relief to a South Carolina animal shelter," said Geauga Humane Society’s Rescue Village in a statement.

In South Carolina, animal shelters have declared a state of emergency regarding care for homeless animals. So when a pilot with Pilots n' Paws agreed to bring the felines back to Northeast Ohio, the group jumped at the opportunity.

The cats made the trip with another fur baby whose adopters were waiting at the airport when they arrived.

The cats made there way to the Rescue Village around 11: 30 a.m. and under went an initial intake exam. Once they're settled in, they will be examined by the Rescue Village's clinic staff to ensure they are ready for adoption.

The cats arrived already vaccinated and spayed/ neutered.

Geauga Humane Society’s Rescue Village is located at 15463 Chillicothe Rd, Novelty, OH 44072. For more information, click here.
