Former Macedonia mayor turns himself in on burglary, violating protection order charges

Records state that Migliorini violated a protection order out of Palm Beach County, Florida against his former girlfriend.

RAVENNA, Ohio -- Former Macedonia Mayor Joe Migliorini has turned himself in after Streetsboro police issued a warrant for his arrest on burglary and violating a protection order charges.

Streetsboro police say Migliorini turned himself in to Ravenna Municipal Court Wednesday morning.

Portage Municipal Court records state that Migliorini violated a protection order out of Palm Beach County, Florida against his former girlfriend.

Migliroini, 65, resigned last month after it became public knowledge that he had been charged for domestic violence against his girlfriend in Florida in April.

A 44-year-old woman at a Palm Beach County restaurant told police her boyfriend, identified as Migliorini, dropped her off for a business meeting. When he returned, she says she told him her meeting was not finished and turned to reenter the building. As she did so, Migliorini allegedly grabbed her by the hair and pulled her backward, spinning her around to face him before slapping her across the face.

When he learned police were called, Migliorini reportedly fled from the restaurant and was later located at the PGA Marina nearby.

Migliorini first served as mayor of Macedonia from 1988 to 2001. He was re-elected in 2015.
