RAVENNA, Ohio — Portage County Sheriff's deputies report that they have arrested a 56-year-old Hudson teacher for the sexual battery of a minor student.

Heidi Hallstein has been booked in the Portage County Jail and charged with sexual battery, a third degree felony. She is awaiting her first court appearance and may face additional charges.

Hallstein allegedly had a sexual encounter with the student from the Hudson City School District at her residence in Portage County's Franklin Township. Detectives say one of the incidents occurred in January of 2017.

Hudson Police contacted Portage County Sheriff's detectives earlier this month when they found out about a possible incident of sexual battery involving a teacher and student.

According to Portage County Sheriff David Doak, both the Hudson Police Department and Hudson City School District have "provided their complete cooperation during the investigation."

Doak asks that if anyone has any further information about this matter, please call the Portage County Sheriff's Office at 330-297-3890.
