Kent State police looking for suspect who used knife in alleged abduction attempt on campus

The Kent State University Police Department is searching for a man who allegedly tried to abduct a woman on campus early Sunday morning.

The school sent out an alert to students which stated a man dressed in dark clothes approached a woman on the esplanade near the arch at South Willow and East College Street around 2:40 a.m.

The man apparently held a knife or another sharp object at his side and told the woman to come with him. Instead, the woman ran away, while the suspect ran in the opposite direction.

Anyone with information is asked to contact KSU police at (330) 672-2212. The university also stresses the availability of a free safety escort service, which can be reached at (330) 672-7004.
