The Portage County Sheriff's office confirms the Waterloo Local Schools campus in Atwater Township was placed on lockdown as a precaution following an apparent threat Tuesday.
Sources tell WKYC a "suspicious note" was discovered inside the middle school bathroom that apparently said there would be a shooting at noon and to "tell everyone." Deputies searched the scene, and officials stressed this was never an active shooter situation. The lockdown affected multiple schools due to them being connected on campus.
The student suspected of writing the note has been taken into custody after he was seen on cameras near the restroom. The student faces possible expulsion.
The lockdown was lifted around 1:30 p.m. Things are expected be back to "business as usual."
