Portage County Sheriff's Office: 3 confirmed tornado touchdowns

Two of the confirmed touchdowns occurred in Streetsboro, with one other in Shalersville.

Northeast Ohio received a heavy dose of severe weather on Thursday afternoon. Depending on where you live, you may have even experienced a tornado.

According to Portage County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Ralph Spidalieri, there are three tornadoes that have confirmed to have touched down. Two occurred in Streetsboro, with one other in Shalersville.

Spidalieri adds that the tornadoes came down in fields. There is no word yet on if there was any structural damage as a result. 

Tornado warnings were issued for the following counties during Thursday severe afternoon of storms:

  • Ashland
  • Medina
  • Wayne
  • Summit
  • Cuyahoga
  • Stark
  • Trumbull
  • Mahoning
  • Portage
  • Geauga
