AURORA, Ohio — Opening a new store location during a worldwide pandemic may seem like an impossible feat, but not for Sheely's owners Jeff Curry, Lance Romeo, and Jessica Smith.
The family-based furniture company recently opened a new storefront in Aurora, the first expansion in the company's 68-year history.
For Sheely's, the new location marks a new beginning--something many could use during a time of uncertainty. The company has brought new jobs to the Aurora location, and is will continue to hire more employees in the coming months.
Curry--the general manager and co-owner of Sheely's--told 3News that in addition to social distancing and mask wearing, one of the most difficult aspects of opening a new business during a pandemic has been finding workers.
"We are still understaffed," Curry said. "It's a hard hiring process right now." Applications for Sheely's can be found here.
Smith, another co-owner of the business as well, agreed with her coworker.
"We're just blessed and fortunate to be in the position that we're in," She said. "We are still hiring. We started off with a small group and we're going to continue to hire and continue to grow."
According to the three owners, the nature of their business has lent itself to the opening of a new location, as many Americans are not leaving the house.
"A lot of people are making their homes their own vacation," Smith said. "People want to spruce up their home because that's where they're spending most of their time...Anything that makes people feel comfortable is what is selling."
The new location also marks the first time the North Lima-based company is expanding into the Cleveland market.
"We are just humbled and so excited to be in the area" Smith said. "We want to be in the area not as just a business, but as a community partner."
Sheely's is currently offering a special opening-month deal, taking $100 purchases of $1,000 or more and granting 12-month financing options through September 26.
