DEERFIELD, Ohio -- Authorities are investigating after an elderly woman was assaulted on the Berlin Hike and Bike Trail.
The incident happened Thursday around 6 p.m. off state Route 224. The woman was riding her bike when she was "seriously assaulted," according to the Portage County Sheriff's Office. Details of the assault were not provided.
The woman received help from trail hikers following the assault. She was treated and released from a local hospital.
The suspect is described as a man in his late 20 or early 30s. He is about 6 feet tall and between 175-200 pounds with short brown, curly hair. Authorities say a gray Pontiac Bonneville was seen in the area and may be a car of interest.
The Portage County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who was on the trail between 4-7 p.m. Thursday to call the sheriff's office at 330-296-5100. Anyone with information is also encouraged to call.
