Situation cleared after Cleveland Fire and Dominion Energy crews sent out to inspect ruptured gas line near W. 25th Street in Cleveland

The leak is under control, according to Cleveland Fire.

According to Cleveland Fire, crews have safely fixed a ruptured gas line on W. 25th Street between Lorain Avenue and Market Avenue. 

The streets were closed off to the public temporarily, but have since been reopened.

Initial reports about a gas leak came in around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, which Cleveland Fire confirmed on Twitter, asking residents to avoid the area while crews work to get the situation under control.

"High Pressure Gas Leak on Gehring south of Lorain. @CLEpolice have CLOSED W.25 both directions south of Lorain to Gehring/Chatham," Cleveland Fire tweeted on Wednesday afternoon. "Lorain Rd Eastbound CLOSED from W.25th to Gehring. Gehring CLOSED from Lorain to W.25th. Please avoid area."
