SANDY TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Three people suffered “serious” injuries from a crash Tuesday evening in Stark County.
Authorities say it happened around 8:28 p.m. when a 2002 Buick Rendezvous went left of the double yellow line and crashed head-on with a 2017 Ford Explorer on Route 43 near mile post 2.
The following people were hurt in the crash:
- 36-year-old Steven Michael Weaver of Henderson, Nevada. He was driving the Rendezvous. Authorities say he was trapped inside the vehicle and suffered “serious incapacitating injuries.” He was extricated from the vehicle and taken to Mercy Medical Center in Canton.
- 47-year-old Timothy McDaniel, of Rock Hill, South Carolina. He was driving the Explorer. Authorities say he was trapped inside his vehicle “for an extended period of time.” He was extricated from the vehicle and taken to Akron General Medical Center by Medflight with “serious life-threatening injuries.”
- 43-year-old Yvonne McDaniel, of Rock Hill, South Carolina. She was a passenger in the Explorer. Authorities say she was also trapped inside the vehicle. She was extricated and taken to Aultman Hospital with "incapacitating injuries."
investigators say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
