A man was arrested for Operating a Vehicle while Impaired Saturday afternoon in Massillon, and according to police, this is far from his first issue.

Authorities say Dennis Grizzard Sr. ran a stop sign yesterday around 3:18 p.m., prompting an officer to attempt to stop him. However, Grizzard continued along the road before stopping in a driveway on the 600 block of Young St. SE and attempting to enter the residence.

Grizzard then apparently returned to his car, where the officer found he was driving despite having a suspended license due to a prior OVI conviction. Grizzard was also suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances, and an open container was found in his vehicle.

After the officer arrested Grizzard for OVI, a look at his driving record showed he had six previous OVI convictions in the state of Ohio, including the most recent one which resulted in his current license suspension. Grizzard is currently being held in the Stark County Jail.

"These are the type of subjects that put our motoring public and pedestrians at risk," the Massillon Police Department said in a statement. "Word for the wise, if you drink, don't drive. If an officer attempts to pull you over, 'making it home' is not 'home base.'"
