Massillon woman struck, killed by car while attempting to help injured animal

STARK COUNTY, Ohio — A 55-year-old woman is dead after being hit by a car in Tuscarawas Township Friday evening.

According to the Stark County Sheriff's Office, 55-year-old Massillon native Tina Marie Icenhower was driving northbound on State Route 241 when she noticed an injured animal on the 11000 block of the road. She pulled her car over and walked into the street to help the animal, but was struck by another vehicle headed southbound around 7:18 p.m.

Icenhower was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the driver who struck her is not known at this time.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to immediately call the Stark County Sheriff at (330) 430-3800.
