Perry and Canton McKinley basketball players display unity after recent student deaths

McKinley and Perry boys basketball players, coaches, and cheerleaders linked arms before the game in a display of unity following the recent student deaths at Perry.

It was a emotional night at the Canton Fieldhouse on Tuesday as the McKinley Bulldogs played host to the Perry Panthers in boys basketball.

The excitement of the action on the court however was secondary to the awesome display of unity between the two teams, the coaches, and cheerleaders prior to tip-off.

Perry High School has experienced a string of devastating suicide deaths as six current and former district students have taken their lives since the start of the school year. The most recent occurred last week.

So before the game, McKinley's players and staff locked arms with their counterparts from Perry in a show of support for the national anthem and pregame ceremonies. Facebook user Denise Senften Luchitz captured the scene:

As Facebook user Sheila Daniels said about the scene, "it was a touching moment to lift up Perry before the start of the game with the two teams standing by each other, arms locked."
