Sobriety checkpoint

Stark County Sheriff George T. Maier says the Stark County Sheriff’s Office, along with other members of the OVI Task Force, will be conducting sobriety checkpoints Saturday, May 28 in Lexington Township on state Route 225 northbound at US 62 and US 62 westbound at SR 225.

Operations Major C. J. Stantz advised that officers will conduct a roadside check of drivers for alcohol and drug impairment.

"We intend to inform the public that officers will be vigilant in detecting and apprehending impaired drivers. We want to strongly recommend to those who will be consuming alcohol to plan for a designated driver or make other arrangements," Maier said.

In addition, the Stark County Sheriff’s Office is also participating in the “CLICK IT OR TICKET” Safety Belt Enforcement Program from May 23 to June 5, 2016.
