ALLIANCE, Ohio — The Alliance Police Department is mourning the death of Patrolman Joseph Amabeli, who passed away on Wednesday due to an 'unexpected medical issue.'

Amabeli had been a member of the Alliance Police Department since 2015, but started his law enforcement career in Sebring, Ohio. "He proved himself to be a qualified, dedicated officer with the utmost integrity," Alliance Police wrote of Amabeli on its Facebook page. In its Facebook post, one officer recently described Amabeli this way: “We are going to miss the hell out of your goat herding skills, “Ha-yaaa!” yelling in the background of radio traffic, voice impersonations, awkward clumsiness, photoshopping officers’ heads on barely appropriate memes and the biggest and kindest heart."

The post closed with this tribute to Patrolman Amabeli: "It’s so hard to think you won’t be here to signal on for the next shift in Car 48, but we know you will always be with us and we will NEVER forget you."

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to raise money for funeral and medical expenses. You can make a donation HERE.
