$1 million bond set for woman accused of killing, dismembering husband: video

A wife is charged for killing and dismembering her husband.

A woman who is accused of killing and dismembering her husband appeared in court for the first time Monday.

Bond for Marcia Y. Eubank, 49, was set at $1 million. She's accused of killing her husband, Howard L. Eubank, after his remains were found Saturday. A judge also ordered Marcia Eubank to undergo a mental evaluation.

Marcia Eubank allegedly shot her husband, Howard Eubank, multiple times on June 13. Summit County Sheriff Steve Barry said several items were collected as evidence, including hand and power tools believed to be used to dismember her husband's body.

Barry confirmed that multiple containers were removed from the couple's Linda Street home Saturday. On Sunday, law enforcement sources confirmed that decomposing body parts were found inside belonging to a man.

The Summit County Medical Examiner has tentatively identified the remains as Howard Eubank.

Barry said the couple's son discovered what appeared to be human remains in a container found in an office space that was "exclusive" to Marcia Eubank. Two additional containers were found in the basement.

Barry said a series of texts were exchanged between Marcia Eubank and her son just before a 9-1-1 call was made by the couple's son.

"She communicated back that you should call police," Barry said.

Marcia Eubank was taken into custody in the parking lot of the Walmart on Arlington Rd. on Saturday evening. According to the sheriff's office report, she admitted to killing her husband in June. The sheriff's office also reported that Eubank's autopsy remains ongoing, but it is believed he was shot several times. An autopsy is being conducted by the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office.

Howard Eubank worked at Warren Pump and Supply, an Akron water supply company, for more than a decade. Co-workers said they received a "bizarre" text from Howard's phone claiming he was moving to Texas June 18. About a week before, co-workers were told Howard was admitted to the hospital in relation to a possible respiratory issue. Sheriff Steve Barry said it appears the texts were sent by Howard's wife.

No motive has been released. Barry did note that Marcia and Howard Eubank had some "strife" in the marriage over the years. At one point, Howard had moved out of the home but later returned.

Marcia Eubank's next court date is set for Wednesday at Barberton Municipal Court.
