AKRON, Ohio — Officials in Akron are investigating a crash that claimed the life of an 87-year-old man Monday.
According to reports, a red 2007 Chevrolet Silverado went left of center and struck a black 2017 Hyundai Tucson driven by the victim, Walter Worthy.
The Silverado was driven by 21-year-old Allen Bates.
Both men were taken to Akron City Hospital. Mr. Worthy succumbed to his injured and Mr. Bates was treated and released.
The crash occurred just before 3 p.m. on State Route 91 near Rhoadesdale Avenue. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
The crash remains under investigation.
