AKRON, Ohio — The night before Thanksgiving is historically a big night out on the town, so with this in mind Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh has sponsored a free ride campaign to keep people from drinking and driving.

Based on a survey of 3,000 restaurants across the country conducted by Upserve, a restaurant management platform,  sales jumped 23 percent the night before Thanksgiving (compared to the previous Wednesday) in 2016.

The biggest driver on that changes in sales, according to the study, was beer sales with increased by 270 percent.

To help keep everyone safe, Summit County residents can get a Lyft ride for free (up to a $20 value) by using promotional code SCPOTHANK19.
