GREEN, Ohio — Editor's note: A previous version of this story inaccurately reported the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet. That error has been corrected.

A 29-year-old man from Jackson Township has died following a motorcycle crash Monday night.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office said the man was riding a 2015 Yamaha R1 motorcycle “at an extreme high rate of speed.” Authorities say the motorcycle collided with a 1995 Chevy S10 on I-77 South near the Massillon Road exit in Green before also striking a 2019 Jeep Compass.

The motorcyclist’s name has not been released.

"The driver of the Yamaha sustained fatal injuries and was transported to the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office," authorities said.

The driver of the Chevy was taken to Mercy Medical Center with minor injuries. The driver of the Jeep was unharmed.

“Speed was a factor in the crash, but it is not yet known if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash,” the Summit County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release Tuesday morning. “The driver of the Yamaha was wearing a helmet.”

I-77 was closed for approximately four hours after the crash took place.

The incident remains under investigation.
