AKRON, Ohio — The Ohio Investigative Unit cited a Summit County bar overnight for "blatantly" violating the state's orders aimed at stopping the spread of COVID-19.

Agents entered 530 PLD LLC, known as Pick's at Portage Lakes, located at 530 Portage Lakes Drive, around 10 p.m. Agents we initially denied entry, but later entered though a side entrance.

Once inside, an estimated 100 to 150 patrons were observed at three different bar areas. Many of the patrons were shoulder to shoulder while walking around, drinking and socializing without practicing social distancing.

Around 10:15 p.m., bartenders were seen still pouring drinks for customers.

The new citation comes after three Ohio bars were cited for violations Saturday.

“We see that most of the permit premises are following the precautions put in place to make their establishments safe and they are complying with the directives,” said OIU Enforcement Commander Eric Wolf. “As agents continue to conduct compliance checks they take enforcement action when egregious violations like these are observed.”

The case will now go before the Ohio Liquor Control Commission, and could face fines and or the revocation of their liquor license.
