Fourth of July celebrations are looking more normal this year compared to last year's toned down celebrations because of the pandemic.
That's why the Summit County prosecutor's office is providing free rides home in the county to anyone who has had too many drinks.
The program is called "Arrive Alive", and according to the prosecutor's office, nearly 2,000 people have used the service since its launch in the county during the 2018 July 4 holiday.
The initiative gives Summit County residents an option to return home safely if they've indulged in too much alcohol for the holiday.
Anyone in Summit County who wants to utilize the program can use the code SCPOAA07042021 on the Lyft App. The code has the first letters of the words Summit County Prosecutor Office Arrive Alive, and then the July 4 date.
Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh says the program allows for people to enjoy the holiday, while still safely having an option to get back home.
“Even if you are headed to a family BBQ or picnic, make sure you utilize our LYFT code for a discounted or free ride home anywhere in Summit County," Walsh said.
This year's "Arrive Alive" campaign runs through 6 p.m. Monday, July 5.
