Man who shot at campers and set a tent on fire in Mohican State Park shot and killed following police chase

LOUDONVILLE, Ohio — One suspect is dead after an incident that started at Mohican State Park. 

According to Loudonville Police, several 911 calls were placed on October 17 with reports of a man having set fire to a tent, shooting at campers, and possibly attempting to leave the property with a child. 

When LPD arrived on the scene, the suspect was able to flee in his vehicle, taking police officers on a chase on CR23.

Police had set up a tire deflation contraption on the SR3 which the suspect ran over in his vehicle. He was able to continue driving into Loudonville. 

The vehicle eventually came to a stop at the corner of N. Campbell Street and N. Market Street. The suspect jumped out of the car and began shooting at police and gunfire was exchanged. 

The man was later found and pronounced deceased by Loudonville EMS. 

The matter is currently under investigation by the Ohio Beaurau of Investigations.
