MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio — State troopers from the Medina post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a two-vehicle crash that left a two-year-old boy dead. It happened on Route 18 near Beach Road in Sharon Township.
Troopers were called to the crash site shortly after 8:00 p.m. Sunday night. They found a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu that had broken down in the eastbound lanes of Route 18. The Malibu was partially in the right-hand lane when it was struck from behind by a 2009 Jeep Liberty, which was also going eastbound.
The driver of the Malibu was 19-year-old Mahogany L. Scott of Akron. The passenger was Jada C. Proctor, 17, also of Akron. They were both taken to Akron General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The two-year-old boy was in the back seat of the Malibu. He was taken to Medina Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The driver of the Jeep was Terrell J. Kemp Jr., 25, of Medina. Kemp was taken to Akron General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
