Woman found guilty in Lorain County animal cruelty case

Two dogs were abandoned by their owners last fall.

Lorain, Ohio - A judge found a woman guilty in an animal cruelty case Monday.

According to police, Judge Ewers found Amanda Pippens guilty of one felony and 3 misdemeanor counts for her role in abandoning two dogs last fall.

Morris Ellison plead guilty to charges several months ago.The incident happened in August 2018.

Lorain Police Officer “Doc” Rick Broz received a tip that the pups were abandoned by their owners.

The dogs were found at a house near Washington Avenue. Both dogs were emaciated, and one had to be carried out on a stretcher.

Unfortunately, one dog died. Now, the other dog is in the county’s prison dog program where it gets around the clock care by his inmate caretakers.
