$500,000 lottery winner in Rootstown: See where the winning ticket was sold

The winner matched five numbers – only missing the top prize by failing to match the Lucky Ball.

ROOTSTOWN, Ohio — For the second time in less than a week, somebody in Northeast Ohio hit a $500,000 prize in the Lucky For Life lottery.

The most recent winner – who won the big prize money from the Saturday night drawing on Sept. 10 – purchased their winning ticket from a Giant Eagle store in Rootstown. Ohio Lottery officials say it was an auto-pick ticket.

The lucky numbers in the drawing were: 20, 23, 29, 30, 34 with Lucky Ball 15. The winner matched five numbers – only missing the top prize by failing to match the Lucky Ball.

If the big winner isn’t you, it’s still a good idea to check your tickets because the Ohio Lottery is listing thousands of other winners with smaller prizes as listed below:

  • $200 prize: 5 winners
  • $150 prize: 17 winners
  • $25 prize: 187 winners
  • $20 prize: 236 winners
  • $6 prize: 956 winners
  • $4 prize: 1,599 winners
  • $3 prize: 3,337 winners

Just last week, a Lucky For Life lottery ticket sold at a Discount Drug Mart store in Elyria also hit $500,000 for the drawing held on Thursday, Sept. 8.

Ohio Lottery officials say the odds of winning the top prize – which is $1,000 a day for life – are one in 30,821,472. The overall odds of winning any prize are one in eight.

Lucky For Life lottery drawings happen seven days a week at 10:35 p.m.
