Hugh Jackman and his wife of more than 20 years, fellow actress Deborra-Lee Furness, continue to inspire relationship goals.
During a joint interview on the "Aussies in Hollywood" podcast Tuesday, the Australian couple recounted the time they met, what it was like to work together and how Jackman knew she was "the one."
"I knew very early. I knew before Deb knew, even when she tried to break up with me, I knew," Jackman said. "I managed to talk her out of (breaking up with me), thank God. I'm a very indecisive person, Deb really knows this about me. I can count on my hand the amount of times in my life anything has felt that clear to me."
He continued, "I just knew 100 percent ... I even knew when she was trying to work out reasons to break up with me."
After only 11 months of dating, they married in 1996. They now share two children: Oscar, 18, and Ava, 13.
The pair met in Australia on the set of the TV show "Corelli" in 1995, where, Furness explains, she wasn't looking to date anyone.
“I had just made my New Year’s resolution, I said, ‘I am not dating any actors, and definitely not under 30,'” she said before laughing. “Meet my husband.”
Furness added that dating Jackman so early on into filming broke "Rule No. 1" of the acting business: "Don't date your co-stars."
But that didn't stop the chemistry between them. Jackman said working with Furness was "the best experience" he'd ever had working with another actor.
"This was before we were romantically involved or had any idea that Deborra was interested. There was a chemistry," he said. "And every time we had a scene together, it was unbelievable ... Professionally, I’ve never had anything quite like that again.”
