Xbox servers down as temperatures hit record lows

Xbox said on Twitter that it has identified the cause of the issue and is continuing to address it.

UPDATE: Xbox tweeted at 3:23 p.m. ET that the issues surrounding it outage have been resolved.

As temperatures across the nation hit record lows, school and work closings have led the no shortage of free time.

And perhaps as a result, one of the world's largest gaming networks was overwhelmed, with Xbox users across the country reporting an outage on the system's servers mid-Wednesday afternoon.

Xbox Support took to Twitter to recognize the issues its users were experiencing. Although it stated that it has identified the cause for the issue, it did not acknowledge that the outages came as the result of too many users attempting to access it at once.

In 2018, Xbox claimed to have more than 57 million subscribers to its Xbox Live service, across platforms including Xbox One, Windows 10, iOS, and Android.
