The Summit County Board of Elections has issued an alert after some residents apparently voted for two separate candidates no longer running in their respective races.

The BOE says Justin Speight—originally running for Green City Council at-large—and Scott Gale—running for Sagamore Hills Township fiscal officer—were left on the ballot even though both have withdrawn. Officials say proper notices were not posted at polling stalls alerting voters of the change.

Votes cast for Speight or Gale will not be counted, according to the BOE, and polling places in both localities have been notified. Anyone with further questions or concerns is asked to contact the BOE by phone at (330) 643-5200, by email at summit@summitcountyboe.com, or by direct message on Twitter.
