It’s the fall season that this community looks forward to. That’s because with fall, comes Cardinal football! The Mentor High School Cardinals are a perennial powerhouse in the state of Ohio. They have groomed some top NFL talent as well. Most recently, Chicago Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky.

From football stars to U.S. Presidents. James A. Garfield ran his 1880 presidential campaign from a home in Mentor. That house is now a National Historic Site located on Highway 20.

If you’re hungry, Mentor has you covered. The city has more than 170 restaurants. One of the favorites is Dave’s Cosmic Subs. Step inside and experience the throwback feel that would make even Jerry Garcia feel at home.

But it’s not just the décor that rocks, take a bite of one of their 30 subs and you’ll see why they are a success. Dave’s go-to is their meatball sub.

“You just can’t get subs like it anywhere else,” says manger Brandon Yeater.

Speaking of unique, Spudnuts is a Mentor breakfast staple!

The classic family owned coffee shop takes a different take on their signature donut.

“We put potato flower in our mix. That’s what makes it special,” said owner Geta Sidley.

They’ve been dishing them out by the dozen since 1970 all with one motto in mind.

“A different day, a different donut,” laughs Sidley.

It’s just a few things that makes the 44060 a sweet place to live.
