What's happening in Northeast Ohio this weekend: Jan. 18-21

Just in case you're daring enough to venture out this weekend.

The weekend forecast looks a little daunting, so we don't blame you if your plans don't extend beyond your front door.

But for those willing to brave the ice and snow, there are plenty of events happening across the area, especially since many will be celebrating a three-day weekend.

From a special performance at the Rock Hall to a lineup of MLK Day events, check out our list of 10 things to do this weekend.

Cinderella

What: See Rodgers and Hammerstein's Tony Award-winning rendition of Cinderella this weekend at Playhouse Square. You'll see all of your favorite moments from the Disney classic come to life, including the famous pumpkin and glass slipper. Get tickets here.

Cleveland Boat Show

What: Ahoy! The Cleveland Boat Show is a boater's paradise, full of vessels to check out, activities to try and music to enjoy. You can try scuba diving, see Twiggy the water skiing squirrel and test your skills as a boat captain. Learn more here.

Discovery Day at Cleveland Museum of Natural History

What: Enjoy free admission to the museum for a day of discovery. See lab specimens not typically on display, demonstrations from local scientists and students and meet the animals in the wildlife center. Learn more here.

Frozen Fest

What: Frozen Fest has tons of fun and free activities for kids. They can see live reindeer, meet winter princesses, make crafts and enjoy some hot cocoa. There will also be ice carvings, sled dogs and face painting. Learn more here.

When: Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Martin Luther King Jr. celebration at Cleveland Museum of Art

What: Celebrate Dr. King's legacy at the art museum with music, dance, theater and spoken word. Several area performance groups will be on hand and a variety of activities and tours will be provided. Learn more here.

Martin Luther King Day at Akron Zoo

What: Enjoy free admission to the Akron Zoo Monday in celebration of Dr. King. The Akron chapter of the NAACP will be on site with fun activities. Learn more here.

NARI Home Improvement Show

What: Whether you're looking to renovate your home, or you just enjoy home improvement, the NARI Home Improvement Show has plenty to keep you busy. Meet hundreds of industry experts, including DIY Network's Mike Holmes. Learn more here.

North Coast Harbor Ice Fest

What: Spend some time outside the Rock Hall and Great Lakes Science Center, where this free event will offer three dozen ice displays. There will be crafts, hot cocoa, giveaways and live entertainment, and as a bonus, the Rock Hall and science center will offer free admission. Learn more here.

Rush Fan Day

What: Head to the Rock Hall, where 2013 inductees Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson of Rush will be in attendance. Watch live interviews, get a signed copy of Lee's book and check out his guitars in the "Shine A Light" exhibit. Learn more here.

Superheroes on the Train

What: Kids can meet their favorite superheroes and head on an adventure. Bat Lady, Spidey and Warrior Woman will all be on board for kids to meet, meaning costumes are welcome. They'll also get to sing, hear stories and enjoy snacks. Learn more here.
