Leon Bibb Commentary | The Mega Millions jackpot has become the new American dream

Like everyone else, Leon Bibb has lotto fever.

I believe in the American Dream.

I grew up with the philosophy of "Work hard, Leon. Earn money legally, and you will find your dream."

Believe me, that still works.

But in recent years, we have added another dimension to the dance for the dollar. Win the lottery with a wish as big as big can be.

Now, we are in the realm of lottery winnings in the millions. Well, check that. We are now in the BILLION DOLLAR hopes. The Mega Millions game has itself gone greedy and winnings have jumped to more than a billion bucks. $1.6 BILLION dollars. Oh, don't wake me up now 'cause I'm dreamin'!

But the chances of winning are astronomical. Literally.

You have a better chance of being killed by an asteroid.

Talk about the sky being the limit.

Seriously, chances of winning the $1.6 billion are about the same odds of your being elected president.

I'll not get political here. Just stating the odds.

Numbers crunchers estimate the odds of winning the big Mega-Millions $1,600,000,000 dollars are ... okay ... hold on to your wallet: 302 million-to-one.

There are 325 million people in the United States.

But still you dream you are the one who will win. Better said: I'm the one who will win.

Still, being the kind of guy I am, I wish you luck, too.

Here is my humble request: If you win, call me. We'll do lunch.

Remember, I'm your best friend.
