FINAL: No. 2 Ohio State falls to No. 5 Oklahoma, 31-16

The second-ranked Ohio State football team fell to No. 5 Oklahoma on Saturday night by a score of 31-16.

Below are live updates from the Buckeyes' defeat at the hands of the Sooners.

FINAL: Oklahoma 31, Ohio State 16

Fourth quarter

6:29 - Oklahoma 31, Ohio State 16. Ohio State cuts the Sooners' lead to 14 with a 32-yard Nuernberger field goal.

9:26 - Oklahoma 31, Ohio State 13. Sooners take advantage as Jordan Smallwood scores on a 3-yard reverse. That should about do it.

11:06 - Oklahoma takes over at Ohio State's 27-yard line after an interception thrown by J.T. Barrett. With the way the Buckeyes' offense has been playing, that should about do it.

11:11 - Oklahoma 24, Ohio State 13. Baker Mayfield may have just iced the game with a 10-yard touchdown pass to Trey Sermon. Buckeyes are going to need to get going on offense -- and then some.

14:54 - Sooners take over on downs after Ohio State misfires on 4th-and-4. Oklahoma takes over at its own 36-yard line.

Third quarter

2:17 - Oklahoma 17, Ohio State 13 - Sooners slice through Buckeyes' defense with a 4-play, 92-yard drive, capped by an 18-yard touchdown pass from Baker Mayfield to Morris Lee.

3:57 - Ohio State goes 3-and-out as Oklahoma takes over at its own 8-yard line following a Drue Chrisman punt.

5:38 - Buckeyes get a big defensive stop, aided by a Nick Bosa sack to force a 2nd and 30 at Oklahoma's own 1-yard line. Ohio State takes over at its own 40.

8:10 - Ohio State 13, Oklahoma 10. Buckeyes put together arguably their best drive of the night but stall in the end zone with J.T. Barrett missing K.J. Hill on third down. 24-yard field goal by Sean Nuernberger regains the lead for Ohio State.

10:50 - Ohio State 10, Oklahoma 10 as the Sooners answer back quickly with a Baker Mayfield 36-yard touchdown pass to Dimitri Flowers.

12:37 - Ohio State 10, Oklahoma 3 as a 6-yard J.K. Dobbins touchdown run caps a 7-play, 44-yard opening drive for the Buckeyes in the second half. You can watch Dobbins' touchdown run here.

7:44 - Buckeyes catch a break as Austin Seibert's 37-yard field goal attempt sails wide right. Ohio State takes over at its own 20-yard line.

11:11 - Ohio State 3, Oklahoma 3. Sean Nuernberger connects on a 24-yard field goal after a 10-play, 43-yard drive to give the Buckeyes the first lead of the game.

14:54 - Buckeyes recover a fumble at Oklahoma's 49-yard line following a botched lateral by the Sooners.

First quarter

0:00 - First quarter comes to a close without a score. Sooners out-gain the Buckeyes 119-25.

2:00 - Buckeyes drive stalls as right tackle Isaiah Prince gets beat on a couple of big plays. Oklahoma takes over at its own 16-yard line.

5:29 - Another Oklahoma drive comes up short of any points when Cleveland native Chris Worley forces Sooners running back Abdul Adams to fumble. Buckeyes take over at their own 25-yard line.

10:24 - Well that was quick. Buckeyes go three-and-out and opt to punt from their 40-yard line. Sooners take over at their own 9 after a Drue Chrisman 52-yard punt.

11:36 - Oklahoma opens the game with a drive to the Buckeyes' 36-yard line, but a Baker Mayfield over throw turns the ball over on downs. Ohio State takes over at its 36-yard line for its first drive of the game.
