Ohio State Buckeyes defensive tackle Dre'Mont Jones (86) after a victory against the Texas Christian Horned Frogs at AT&T Stadium.

One of Ohio State's top defenders and a former Cleveland area star will be taking the next step in his football career.

Defensive tackle Dre'Mont Jones, a Cleveland native who graduated from St. Ignatius before beginning his career with the Buckeyes, announced Wednesday he will forego his senior season and enter the NFL Draft. Alex Gleitman of 247Sports first reported the story before Jones himself confirmed it on Twitter.

Jones has had a monster year on the OSU front seven, tallying 40 total tackles, 8.5 sacks, and an interception return for a touchdown. He says he will still play in the Rose Bowl game against Washington on New Year's Day.

Multiple draft analysts have Jones pegged as a first round pick, with ESPN's Todd McShay currently having him going 29th overall.
