CLEVELAND — "You Said It" is a reader participation column based on the premise that if you don't laugh about Cleveland sports you'll cry. And that if you do laugh about Cleveland sports, you might still end up crying. But at least friends and family will like being around you more.

YOU SAID IT

Bud: Ty Lue says this season is all about “wins and lessons” not “wins and losses.” Is that the new analytics? — Jimmy W.

Hard to tell what the message is there. The last time a marketing initiative caused that much confusion Mercedes-Benz used “Bensi” in China only to find out it translated to “rush to die.”

Bud: It sounds like the Cavs plan on lying low and then surprising a lot of teams this season. Do you think that’s their strategy? — Tim.

I’ll believe that’s a winning strategy when I see the opossum at the Q some night. Not just in the seats. Drinking Champagne in one of the suites.

Bud : Now that “You Said It“ only appears once weekly, does that create a problem for you to decide which of the many creative, witty, intelligent submissions will be placed in a column with your name on it? — Gary Shine, Chardon.

In theory, no. In practice, hell no.

Bud: I admit to being obsessed with mascots. What do you think of the Philadelphia Flyers new mascot “Gritty?” — Bobby.

I think it’s never good for a character meant to engage kids to look scarier than Tim Burton’s Penguin.

Bud: What’s the over/under for the number of games Josh Gordon will play in this year? — Jim Walsh, Olmsted Falls.

Are we including Canada?

Bud: So now that the Browns have won a game, has Mike Holmgren called looking for playoff tickets? — Eddie Vidmar.

Well, he does have a better in with John Dorsey because of their Packers connection than he does with, say, Trent Richardson and Brandon Weeden.

Bud: Can you believe it? The losing streak is over! Just think what Coach Jackson could do with a good team. Do you think he should get a contract extension? — Dave, Mentor.

Nice try, Hue.

Bud: I heard that in addition to children’s books, the Cavs J.R. Smith is working on a kids' interactive game called "Duck, Duck Soup!" — Jim Corrigan, Fairview Park.

You Said It winners are on a hot streak.
