“You Said It" is a reader participation column based on the premise that if you don't laugh about Cleveland sports you'll cry.

And that if you do laugh about Cleveland sports, you might still end up crying. But at least friends and family might occasionally like being around you.

YOU SAID IT

Bud: Nick Chubb was clocked running almost 22 miles an hour during his record touchdown Sunday in Baltimore. He could’ve been ticketed in a school zone. Amazing. — Tim, C-Town.

The reason I’m not quite as impressed as some is I clocked 23 miles an hour one day, and all it took was an Indians PR guy telling me, “Albert is looking for you.”

Hey Bud: I recently read where Hue Jackson was so stressed out coaching the Browns that he was suffering from blackouts. Any truth to the rumor that those blackouts occurred on Sundays around 1:00? — Devin, Concord.

Whatever the timing, it’s never good when an organization has had fewer playoff appearances since 1999 than it’s had head coaches prone to panic attacks.

Bud: While watching Monday Night Football with Booger McFarland and Joe Tessitore, what is it that you listen to? — Jim Corrigan, Fairview Park.

For something a little easier on the ears, I usually toss Ike the Boston Terrier a squeaky toy.

Bud: If the Browns win out, win the Super Bowl, win their first 11 games in 2020 but then lose game 12 to the Bengals, should Freddie hand over the play calling? — Chris.

If he loses a game to the Bengals any time in the next few years, yes, he should be asked to hand over the play calling. Along with his playbook and key card.

Hey Bud: With another Tribe season behind us, are you surprised that Jesse Levis is STILL the only Tribe player, past or present, with a blue jean company named after him? — Joel in Elyria.

In a matter of such importance I feel some urgency in saying — one historian to another — that I believe you are forgetting Cliff, C.C., David, Leron, Mike and Thornton Lee.

Bud: Is it a comfort to Odell Beckham that they won't have to search the end zone for his lost earring? — Michael Sarro

He’s just happy he didn’t lose his watch, pocket square and the bow tie Marlon Humphrey was trying to straighten for him.

Bud: Since the Cavs will not define their 2019-2020 season’s success by the number of wins, do you expect them to go deep into the ‘moral victory’ playoffs? — Jim Corrigan, Fairview Park.

Not using wins in pro sports to measure success sounds like a conveniently low bar but only because it is.

Bud: I fear the new California law allowing college players to make money on endorsement deals will disrupt the competitive balance we’ve come to cherish in college football. I mean, without the current safeguards in place, how long before a team like Miami of Ohio loses 76-5 to Ohio State? — Kevin.

You Said It “winners” are underdogs, home and away.
