2 Northeast Ohio golf courses selected for Golf Pass' top 100 list of courses that cost less than $100 to play

Sleepy Hollow Golf Course and Manakiki Golf Course made the cut.

CLEVELAND — Editor's note: the video in the player above is from a previous story.

Two of Northeast Ohio’s own were recently named amongst the best public golf courses in the entire country.

Last week, Golf Pass listed off the top 100 golf courses in the country that can always be played for less than $100, with both Sleepy Hollow Golf Course and Manakiki Golf Course making the list. Those two spots were the two of the three in the State of Ohio to make the list, joining Stonelick Hills Golf Course in Batavia, Ohio.

Sleepy Hollow Golf Course is located in Brecksville and is owned by the Cleveland Metroparks. The course opened up for play in 1924 as a country club and was opened up to the public in 1963. It was designed by Stanley Thompson, a legendary Canadian golf course architect.

As for Manakiki Golf Course, that Donald Ross design is located out in Willoughby. The course is built on the land that was once the summer home of Howard Hanna, with the west wing of that mansion used as the current clubhouse. The course was a private country club from 1944 until opening up to the public in 1961.

For both courses, the most expensive round that can be played is $61 on weekends or holidays, but the courses can be played for less during the week or after 2 p.m. on weekends or holidays.
