Kenston hammers Buckeye 40-21 in WKYC.com High School Football Playoff Game of the Week

Quarterback Jon Tomcufcik led the way with four total touchdowns.

Bedford — The last time Kenston was feature on WKYC.com's High School Football Game of the Week, they suffered their only loss of the season. This time around, things were a little bit different.

The second-seeded Bombers dominated almost throughout in their Division III regional semifinal matchup, smashing the third-seeded Buckeye Bucks 40-21. Quarterback Jon Tomcufcik led the way with four total touchdowns.

Both teams traded touchdowns on their opening drives before Kenston (11-1) scored the next 33 unanswered. Tomcufcik threw TD passes to Tyler Mintz, Jay Middleton (58 yards) and Jack Porter to make it 26-7 at half. He later kept it on a QB run in the third before a long scoring run by Mintz put the game away for good.

Buckeye (10-2), which won its first playoff game ever last week against Alliance, got two late scoring runs by Dom Monaco. However, it wasn't nearly enough as defensive woes plagues them all night.

Kenston will take on top-seeded Canfield next week for the Region 9 championship at a to-be-determined site.
