Amherst wins shootout with Berea-Midpark in WKYC.com's Game of the Week

Running backs Khennedy Scagliozzo and Danny Makruski led the way for Amherst.

WKYC.com's latest High School Football Game of the Week was billed as a shootout, and it sure lived up to the hype.

The Amherst Steele Comets moved to 5-0 on the season with a 45-38 victory over the high-powered Berea-Midpark Titans. A defensive stop just inches from the goal line with less than three minutes to go provided the difference.

Running backs Khennedy Scagliozzo and Danny Makruski led the way for Amherst, combining for over 360 yards and four touchdowns on the night. Scagliozzo himself already has 1,057 and 17 scores just halfway through the season.

For Berea-Midpark, top state quarterback and Rice commit Trevor Bycznski had over 500 yards passing and two TDs, but it wasn't enough as his team fell to 3-2 on the season.

The Comets will now get set to take on Olmsted Falls next week, while the Titans will do battle with a collapsing Midview squad.
