Orrville beats Johnstown-Monroe 49-34 to win D-V state football championship

Quarterback Logan Domer rushed for 207 yards and four touchdowns in the victory.

Canton — It was a celebration 20 years in the making.

The Orrville Red Riders defeated the Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies Friday 49-34 to win the OHSAA Division V state championship. It's the second such football title for the school and the first since 1998.

The Red Riders (13-2) trailed early 7-0, but scored 21 unanswered points on three long touchdown runs by quarterback Logan Domer (two of 60 yards or more). The senior leader added another in the fourth quarter, and finished the afternoon with 207 yards on the ground. Marquael Parks added 198 of his own, with three scores.

On defense, linebacker Ben Summers led the team with 16 total tackles. Three of Jacob Bailey's nine stops were for a loss, and Ben Amstutz had a sack.

Orrville's victory means Northeast Ohio teams won each of the five state title games they were involved in over the weekend. Massillon Washington was the only school to lose, and they did so to Archbishop Hoban of Akron.
