MENTOR, Ohio — The Mentor High School football program has great expectations. That includes winning big games.

The Cardinals face-off against Medina this Friday in the Division I, Region I Championship. The two teams met earlier in week 1 of the season, with Mentor winning 37-19.

Matt Gray is Mentor’s head coach this season, taking over for the legendary Steve Trivisonno who compiled a record of 209-70 along with finishing as state runner-up four times.

Gray and his program are riding high. “It’s been a pretty special season. This program has been built on competition. It doesn’t matter who we are facing or what we’re doing, we want to go out there and compete and win. That’s what our expectations are."
