CLEVELAND — It's hard to believe, but we've reached the pinnacle of the Ohio high school football regular season.
Week 10. Now or never. The last chance for teams to either gain momentum or punch their tickets for the playoffs.
With the postseason expanded to 16 teams per region this year, a lot of schools won't have to sweat things out like they have in the past. Still, seeding remains vitally important, especially with the first two rounds taking place at the better teams' home stadiums this time around.
WKYC.com knows this, which is why all three of our choices for our last High School Football Game of the Week of the regular season feature prime contenders looking to gain one last boost before the playoffs start on Oct. 29. This will also be the final poll of 2021, as postseason planning considerations make it a little hard to hold a vote (don't worry, we'll still be broadcasting games through the state championships!).
Here are your options for Week 10:
- Rocky River (6-3) vs. Buckeye (7-2) - Great Lakes Conference Championship Game
- Benedictine (6-1) vs. Nordonia (7-2)
- Strongsville (5-4) vs. Brunswick (5-4)
You can cast your ballots either at this link or in the survey below, with one final participant winning a free meal from Chick-fil-A!
The poll runs through 12:30 p.m. this Wednesday, with 3News' Dave "Dino" DeNatale and Tyler Carey announcing the winner later that day on their weekly high school preview show. Dino will then call that game live Friday night via audio stream beginning on WKYC.com, the WKYC app, and the WKYC Facebook and YouTube pages, with video highlights being featured on that evening's edition of "What's Next" at 11 p.m. as well as on our website.
Best of luck to all the teams involved, and one last time, have fun voting! Be sure to spread the word!!
