Channel 3 Sports is proud to continue its “Student-athlete Shout out” feature series during the 2015-16 school year. Each installment will spotlight the recent accomplishments of a deserving Northeast Ohio high school athlete.
Olmsted Falls’ Sarah Balfour
Olmsted Falls High School girls basketball player Sarah Balfour’s standout sophomore season came to a close when the Bulldogs lost to Amherst Steele in a sectional final on February 18.
Heading into the postseason, the 5-foot-8 shooting guard was averaging 18.1 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
“Sarah brings a relentless work ethic to all situations,” Olmsted Falls head coach Jordan Eaton said. “Her competitive nature never rests. Whether it's a competitive drill in practice or a rivalry game, she is determined to be successful no matter what it takes.”
Balfour recorded 30 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists, six steals and a block in the team’s 72-64 win at Lakewood on January 13. She followed that performance by scoring 23 points and tallying six rebounds, five steals, two assists and one block in Olmsted Falls’ 57-55 victory at North Ridgeville on January 16.
“Sarah understands what many student-athletes fail to understand – trusting the process will ultimately produce desired results,” Eaton said. “I have seen a major change in her game. She is not settling for individual positive results. Sarah is working to make her teammates better.”
Balfour, who also competes on the school’s cross country and lacrosse teams, owns a 3.9 GPA.
