John's Take: Is RG3 or the draft the best option for Browns?

For My Take, we're now two weeks into NFL Free Agency and five weeks away from the draft.

For My Take, we're now two weeks into NFL Free Agency and five weeks away from the draft.

The question that still hangs over the Browns is, "Will this be the year they finally break the cycle of bad quarterback decisions?"

There's been plenty of talk between the Browns and Robert Griffin III. The Browns like him and say if they sign him, that doesn't mean he'll be handed the starting job.

I would stay away from RG3. He had a great rookie season, but since then he's battled serious injuries and benchings. Knee injuries are never good for quarterbacks and I wonder how much tread is left on his tires. I think this is a very risky signing.

With Hue Jackson and his reputation for working with young quarterbacks, I would go get my guy in the draft. And I would take Jared Goff out of Cal. He comes from the Pac 12, which is a pass happy, high offensive league like the NFL. He's not as big as Carson Wentz but Goff is still 6-4, 215, has a good arm, made the throws and good decisions except in a bad Utah loss, but he also played against better competition in the Pac 12.

One pro scout has now come out and bashed Goff, saying he's the next Jay Cutler. The reason is because Goff didn't win enough in college.

To that I'll say it wasn't all his fault. He had a defense at Cal that blew up and gave up 31 points per game.

This team has to build from the bottom up and I think Goff is the closest to being NFL ready. Tweet me your thoughts @johnWKYC.
