Kent State quarterback Dustin Crum hoping to continue football career in NFL

3News Sports Anchor Nick Camino goes one-on-one with MAC Player of the Year.

CLEVELAND — The countdown is on for the NFL Draft in Las Vegas and while Browns fans are wondering who their favorite team may select from the college football ranks next week, one local standout is hoping to hear his name called and continue his career at the next level.

Kent State quarterback Dustin Crum recently chatted with 3News Sports Anchor Nick Camino about the upcoming NFL Draft, his career with the Golden Flashes, the NFL Combine, his head coach Sean Lewis and even his hometown Cleveland Browns.

Crum, 23, helped guide Kent State to multiple bowl games in his career and also won the MAC Player of the Year Award. The former Midview Middie had a stellar high school career and continued his college career playing Division I ball at Kent State.

Crum checks in at 6-3, 207 lbs. and was born and raised in nearby Grafton, Ohio. In 2021, Crum passed for 3,238 yards, 20 touchdowns and only six interceptions. Kent State went 7-7 on the season, played in the MAC Championship game against Northern Illinois and then played Wyoming in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

Recent NFL mock drafts have Crum going anywhere from a late sixth or seventh round draft pick to an undrafted free agent. Crum told Camino he's open to any opportunity in the NFL including an opportunity with the Cleveland Browns.

The NFL Draft is set for Thursday, April 28 and will go through Saturday, April 30 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Cleveland Browns currently do not have a selection in the first round.
