Al Roker surprised by Slider with Cleveland Guardians' jersey on opening day

CLEVELAND — Happy opening day! 

As the Cleveland Guardians open their season tonight against the Seattle Mariners, the team's mascot, Slider, had a special surprise on GO! for Al Roker.

During Roker's visit to WKYC Studios, Slider gave the TODAY host a custom Guardians jersey to celebrate the start of the 2023 MLB season. 

"Oh yes! Yes! Slider that is fantastic, thank you so much," said Roker after receiving the jersey.

The Guardians' first game is scheduled for tonight at 10:10 p.m. in Seattle. On Friday, April 7, the Guardians will celebrate their home opener at Progressive Field -- also against the Mariners. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. and the game will be aired on WKYC. 

While co-hosting GO! the 3News team had many surprises for Roker, including some of the best eats in Cleveland.
