Cleveland Guardians to celebrate José Ramírez weekend at Progressive Field prior to MLB All-Star break

After joining the MLB Home Run Derby, this weekend is all about José Ramírez.

CLEVELAND — When is a better weekend to celebrate José Ramírez than right after he joined the 2022 Home Run Derby?

This weekend, the Cleveland Guardians will host the Detroit Tigers in a four-game series from Thursday, July 14, until Sunday, July 17.

The Guardians are offering lots of exciting promotions for fans this weekend.

On Friday night, a Ramírez necklace will be given away to the first 10,000 fans in Progressive Field. Fans attending the game also can enjoy Sugardale’s Dollar Dog Night, fireworks, and a $2 pregame in the district.

The Ramírez celebration will continue Saturday when the Guardians give out 15,000 signature Ramírez bobblehead that features him wearing the necklace given away the night before.

In the final game of the home series, families can enjoy festivities for all ages as the Guardians host Kids Fun Day, with an opportunity for kids to run the bases.

The weekend's series marks the final games for the Guardians before they head into the MLB All-Star Week break.

On Monday, July 18, Ramírez will compete in the T-Mobile Home Run Derby at 8 p.m. at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California.

Ramírez is the first player from Cleveland to participate in the derby since Carlos Santana in 2019.

Despite being given an invitation in 2018, this is the first time Ramírez has accepted the invitation to be a part of the derby. Ramírez comes into the derby with 17 home runs this season, tied for the 22nd most in all of the MLB.

On Tuesday, July 19, Cleveland will be well represented in the Midsummer Classic as Andrés Giménez, Emmanuel Clase and Ramírez all participate on the American League All-Star Team.
