Cleveland Indians pitching coach Carl Willis gives the perfect answer when asked what kind of animal he would be: 'Beyond the Dugout'

We go 'Beyond the Dugout' for an in-depth conversation with Carl Willis.

CLEVELAND — Get to know more about Carl Willis as we go "Beyond the Dugout" with the Cleveland Indians pitching coach.

Editor's note: This interview was conducted earlier this year during spring training prior to any social distancing requirements.

3News' Dave Chudowsky: Indians pitching coach Carl Willis joins me now on Beyond the Dugout. This can be interesting for a lot of people. Do you feel like you're OK with answering these crazy questions I'm gonna throw your way?

Indians' Carl Willis: I guess we’ll find out. (both laugh)

Chudowsky: I guess we will!

Willis: I’m crossing my arms, I’m getting defensive.

Chudowsky: One of my favorite ones that I like to ask, and I haven't done it much this year, but I'm gonna ask you. If you could be an animal what would it be?

Willis: If I could be an animal, I would be a dog -- specifically a Boxer. I love their personality. I love their energy. I'll take it a step further I'd love to be my wife's Boxer because she loves animals, maybe more than she loves me and I know I'd get very well taken care of well.

Chudowsky: Well, that's a fantastic answer.

Willis: Hope she sees that.

Chudowsky: Well, we’ll make sure. Favorite baseball memory?

Willis: Professionally, it's easy. I was fortunate to be a part of the 1991 Minnesota Twins. We won the World Series that year, defeated the Atlanta Braves. Some people would say it's the best World Series that was ever played, but I think, you know, reaching that goal -- and especially as a player and being part of it -- it's what you dream about. So that certainly would be the highlight and my favorite memory.

Chudowsky: That’s a good one. Favorite food?

Willis: Fried oysters.

Chudowsky: Nice! Favorite color?

Willis: Carolina blue.

Chudowsky: Favorite movie of all time?

Willis: Um, wow! Favorite movie of all time, probably Forrest Gump.

Chudowsky: Your favorite song? Are you into music?

Willis: Well, I'll put it to you this way. I am, and this really surprises people when I tell them no one specific song, I love Earth, Wind and Fire. I saw them in concert here in Phoenix last spring training. I think it was the eighth time I've seen them. I love the saxophone, I love the horn section. Most people think it's going to be country. Big Earth, Wind and Fire fan.

Chudowsky: Love it, Carl great job!

Willis: All right, thank you.
