Cleveland Indians relief pitcher Brad Hand adjusts his cap after loading the bases in the ninth inning in a baseball game against the Chicago White Sox, Wednesday, July 29, 2020, in Cleveland. Chicago won 4-0.

CLEVELAND — (AP) Yasmani Grandal and Eloy Jiménez hit sacrifice flies and Chicago scored four runs in the ninth inning — three charged to ineffective Cleveland closer Brad Hand — to give the White Sox a 4-0 win over the Indians.

Cleveland starter Zach Plesac shut out the Sox for eight innings and struck out a career-high 11, but Hand couldn't keep them off the board in the ninth. Chicago rookie Luis Robert had a two-run single in the inning as they snapped a three-game losing streak and salvaged one game in the series.

Hand has struggled since the second half of last season, and while he already has two saves his ERA ballooned to 15.43. The Tribe offense couldn't get anything going either, with 2019 All-Star Lucas Giolito fanning six across six scoreless frames of his own.

The Indians managed to get the tying run to the plate with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, but Sox closer Alex Colome got Domingo Santana to ground out to end it. The Tribe tallied just six hits on the night, three of them from Jose Ramirez.

Cleveland (4-2) will next head to Minnesota for a four-game series with the Twins, while Chicago (2-4) stays on the road for three against the Kansas City Royals.
