Minnesota Twins homer 6 times to blast Cleveland Indians 10-2

Tribe starter Logan Allen gave up six runs over just 1 1/3 innings.

CLEVELAND — (AP) Byron Buxton homered leading off the first and got five hits, Mitch Garver homered twice and Minnesota hitters connected six times in a 10-2 romp over the Cleveland Indians.

Buxton went 5 for 5 with his homer, two doubles and two singles. He homered on Logan Allen's second pitch and Josh Donaldson and Jorge Polanco also homered in the first as the Twins (8-15) ended a four-game losing streak.

J.A. Happ took advantage of the run support and allowed two runs in seven innings. Williams Astudiollo also connected as Minnesota won for just the second time in 10 games.

Amed Rosario homered for Cleveland (11-12), but by then the deficit was far too steep. Allen allowed six runs over just 1 1/3 innings on his way to his fourth loss, and his ERA ballooned to 9.19.

The Indians had won three in a row prior to Wednesday, and will now get tomorrow off before traveling to Chicago Friday for the start of a seven-game road trip. Shane Bieber (2-2, 2.48 ERA) is expected to start that game for the Tribe against the White Sox' Dallas Keuchel (1-0, 4.32) in a matchup of former Cy Young winners.
