The Cleveland Indians are on the brink of elimination.

With a 3-1 loss in Game 2 of the American League Division Series on Saturday, the Indians find themselves trailing the defending World Series champion Houston Astros 0-2 in the best-of-five series. Cleveland had jumped out to a 1-0 lead behind a third-inning home run by Francisco Lindor, but wasn't able to overcome a 2-run Marwin Gonzalez double and Alex Bregman solo shot.

Instead, the Indians are now potentially down to their final 27 outs of the season, with Game 3 from Cleveland slated for Monday. Mike Clevinger will tow the mound for the Tribe, with Dallas Keuchel getting the start for Houston.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. ET.

What follows is a running recap of Game 2, complete with highlights and analysis.

Final: Astros 3, Indians 1

A 2-out Edwin Encarnacion walk brings the tying run to the plate, but Josh Donaldson flies out to wend the game.

End of 8: Astros 3, Indians 1

Indians down to their final three outs down two runs after Brad Hand records three strikeouts to negate a Marwin Gonzalez single and subsequent Tyler White intentional walk.

Middle of 8: Astros 3, Indians 1

A Yan Gome walk brings the tying run to the plate with one out, but Jason Kipnis strikes out and Roberto Osuna comes on to strike out Francisco Lindor for the first of what could be a 4-out save.

End of 7: Astros 3, Indians 1

An Alex Bregman solo shot tacks on an insurance run for the Astros with the Indians down to their final six outs.

Middle of 7: Astros 2, Indians 1

Three up, three down for the Indians as Edwin Encarnacion, Josh Donaldson and Yonder Alonso go down in order.

End of 6: Astros 2, Indians 1

Carrasco gets in his first jam, putting two on with a Jose Altuve single and Alex Bregman base hit. Andrew Miller comes on in relief and promptly gives up a 2-run double to Marwin Gonzalez as the Astros take the lead.

Carrasco's final line: 5.1 innings, 2 earned runs, 6 hits, 3 strikeouts. Miller exits and is replaced by Trevor Bauer without recording an out.

Bauer records two outs, including a strikeout of Martin Maldonado to limit the damage.

Middle of 6: Indians 1, Astros 0

Indians fail to add to their lead, as Francisco Lindor flies out and Gerrit Cole strikes out Michael Brantley and Jose Ramirez for a 1-2-3 inning.

End of 5: Indians 1, Astros 0

Tyler White hits a leadoff single, but Carlos Carrasco retires Josh Redick, Martin Maldonado and George Springer in order to escape the inning.

Middle of 5: Indians 1, Astros 0

Gerrit Cole's impressive performance continues. The Astros starter pops out Yonder Alonso and renders a Melky Cabrera hit meaningless, striking out Yan Gomes and Jason Kipnis to end the inning unscathed.

End of 4: Indians 1, Astros 0

Another strong inning for Carrasco, who forces a ground out and line out to start the inning before giving up another hit to Marwin Gonzalez. A Carlos Correa groundout, however, ends the inning with the Tribe still up 1. Through 4, Carrasco has only thrown 49 pitches.

Middle of 4: Indians 1, Astros 0

Gerrit Cole strikes out the side -- Ramirez, Encarnacion and Donaldson -- in order.

End of 3: Indians 1, Astros 0

A Lindor error helps put runners on the corners with one out, but the 3-time All-Star helps erase his mistake, turning an inning-ending double play as Cleveland exits the bottom of the third unscathed.

Middle of 3: Indians 1, Astros 0

A Francisco Lindor 2-out solo shot gives the Indians their first lead of the series.

End of 2: Indians 0, Astros 0

Josh Donaldson makes a diving web gem to start the inning and after allowing his first hit of the game to Marwin Gonzalez, Carlos Carrasco grounds out Carlos Correa and strikes out Tyler White for the third out.

Middle of 2: Indians 0, Astros 0

Edwin Encarnacion leads off the inning with a single, but Gerrit Cole records three straight outs, including two strikeouts.

End of 1: Indians 0, Astros 0
